Arrest warrant issued against former Crown Prince Paras Shah

Police personnel deployed in Fulbari Resort Area

CHITWAN, DEC 14 - An arrest warrant has been issued against Former Crown Prince Paras Shah for attempted murderand multiple firearm violations.

This is the first time in Nepal’s history that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of a former royal.

The Home Ministry has directed the security personnel in Chitwan to probe into the Tiger Tops Resort incident where Former Crown Prince Shah reportedly opened fire at Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala's daughter and son-in-law.

The warrant issued with the registration number 166 in Chitwan Police Office has directed the District Police Office in the Capital and the District Police Office in Kaski to arrest Shah, on the charge of his involvement in an attempted murder.

Meanwhile, the Chitwan District Police Office has dispatched letters to the police in Pokhara and Kathmandu to remain vigilant for making the arrest.

It has been learnt that Shah is currently at Fulbari Resort in Pokhara.

The Regional Police Office in Pokhara has deputed security personnel including Nepal Police and Armed Police Force in the Fulbari Resort Area to arrest Shah.

"We have already issued a directive to look into the incident and detain Shah," Spokesperson at the Home Ministry Jaya Mukunda Khanal informed.
